Our Vision: Growing food and community

The Pleasant Valley Community Gardens are welcoming spaces dedicated to sustainable organic gardening practices that nourish the physical, social and spiritual needs of our Pleasant Valley community. All produce is grown for the benefit of Pleasant Valley food pantries.

Our Mission: How we grow food and community

The Pleasant Valley Community Gardens support food security, encourage environmental stewardship, promote collaboration and teamwork, foster education and skill building, embrace diversity, and share the joy of gardening. All are welcome!

What we do

Since 2023, we have cultivated an organic garden on donated Town of Pleasant Valley land in Helen Aldrich Park on Salt Point Turnpike. Each year, we plant and maintain our 90 by 80 square foot bed and improve our irrigation and garden structures using donations from community members and local businesses. We were able to donate 1,500 pounds of produce in 2023 and hope to increase that amount each year.

Our Progress!

In our inaugural year, 2023, the Pleasant Valley Community Garden delivered almost 1,500 pounds of fresh, organically grown vegetables to the Pleasant Valley Food Pantry. Our harvest included Squash, Cucumbers, Parsley, Basil, Cabbage, Beans, Zucchini, Tomatoes, Onions, Carrots, Beets, Peppers, Lettuce, Swiss Chard, Lettuce, Radishes, Local Honey, and Bok Choy. We are off to a great start in 2024, and as of 10/9/24, have delivered 1,835 pounds of beautiful bounty!
